Chemistries
Chemistries quantify levels of different electrolytes, sugars, enzymes, and other proteins in blood. Chemistries give important information about an animal’s organ functions and are useful in diagnosing disease and monitoring treatment.
CBC
A complete blood count (CBC) is a diagnostic test that measures several components of whole blood, including red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, platelets, and hematocrit. CBCs are ordered on both healthy animals as part of routine medical examinations as well as on sick animals to inform disease diagnosis and treatment.
ELISA
Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is an antibody-based analytical biochemistry test that detects the presence of ligand in a liquid sample using antibodies specifically directed against the ligand being measured. ELISA is used to confirm the presence of specific antibodies that confer protection against subsequent viral infections. ELISA results can confirm prior exposure to specific viruses, as well as successful vaccination-conferred viral protection.
PCR Tests
Real-time polymerase chain reaction (real-time PCR) is an analytical molecular biology assay based on the polymerase chain reaction. Also known as quantitative PCR (qPCR), real-time PCR monitors the amplification of a targeted DNA segment in real time and is used in diagnostic research for the detection of genetic material from specific genes, viruses, and bacteria.
Microbiology & Parasitology
AGI offers a range of diagnostic tests to identify pathogenic bacterial and parasitic infections in non-human primates.
*Submitted samples are kept for a period of three months. A longer storage period can be maintained by emailing diagnostics@alphagenesisinc.com.*
